Camp Infinity · Exposure and Experiential Learning
Every year, children from Badlaav’s CCIs step out of their routines and into an experience designed to expand their minds, recharge their spirits, and remind them that they belong to the world. Not just to a hostel.
Why Camp Infinity exists
Most enrichment experiences that children in mainstream schools take for granted, including swimming lessons, nature walks, live performances, career exposure, and sports tournaments, never reach children inside institutional care. Not because they do not deserve them. Because no one built the infrastructure to get them there.
Camp Infinity is that infrastructure. It is a structured, ongoing programme of experiences designed to widen the world that children in Badlaav’s CCIs can see themselves in. Some of those experiences are large (the annual multi-day outing to a nature resort). Some are small (a Saturday afternoon at the cinema). All of them matter.
Each experience is designed around a principle: children who have seen more, believe more. Confidence does not come from being told you can do something. It comes from going somewhere, doing something, and proving it to yourself.
Camp Infinity is funded through CSR support and a community of donors who believe that joy is a right, not a luxury. And that healing and ambition often begin with something as simple as stepping outside and being allowed to feel free.

The main event · Annual Outing
Every year, children from Baniyawala and Kaulagarh travel to a nature-based resort across Uttarakhand for a day that is unlike any other in the shelter home calendar. The location changes. The energy does not.
The outing is not a supervised trip. It is a designed experience: every activity chosen to open a door that most of these children have never been able to knock on. Their first time in a real swimming pool. Their first rock climb under expert guidance. Their first sound healing session. A live music masterclass. A talent show that they plan and perform themselves. New food they have never tasted. Sounds they have never heard.
“They eat food they have never tasted before. They hear sounds they have never heard. They move through open spaces, sing on a mic, dance with their friends, and travel together with wide eyes and louder laughs.”
The bus ride matters as much as the destination. The talent show under the stars matters as much as the swimming pool. And the quiet meditation by a waterfall matters as much as the rock climbing wall. The day is designed to be total: body, voice, mind, memory.
These are the days children remember for years. These are the days that shift what they believe about themselves and about what life can hold.
The deeper programme · Annual Leadership Camp · 2025 - 26
In 2025-26, Badlaav introduced the Annual Leadership Camp: a structured three-day residential experience for elected student leaders, held at Kaaya Learning Centre in Tilwari. Where the Annual Outing gives 310+ children a taste of the world, Leadership Camp gives 35 elected leaders the tools to lead within it.
Day 1 anchored the cohort. A cultural welcome, shared norms, and exercises that built a new confidence in voice and identity as leaders. Children arrived as individuals from four houses. They left the first day as a council.
Day 2 turned energy into skill. Movement for confidence. AI as a practical tool, not a distant concept. A clear, compassionate framework for responding to bullying. Capped by celebrations that knitted the cohort together.
Day 3 converted insight into action. Ministry-wise yearly calendars were built by each minister. Peer-support rituals were created. Leaders left not with inspiration, but with a plan they owned and a role they understood.

Throughout the year
Beyond the Annual Outing and Leadership Camp, Badlaav runs a programme of smaller, targeted exposure visits throughout the year. Each one is designed to introduce children to a world, a skill, an experience, or a person they would otherwise never encounter. Taken together, they form a curriculum of the possible.
For many children, the first time they ever entered a swimming pool. A skill, a joy, and a confidence that carries beyond the water.
Children from the CCI competing in organised football alongside children from other schools and communities. Sport as equaliser.
A music recording and performance experience with Womeniya Band. Children sang, wrote, and heard their voices played back to them on a real track.
Structured training for Badlaav volunteers and facilitators in child-centric pedagogy, trauma-informed teaching, and programme delivery.
A professional grooming experience at Cloud 9 Salon. For children who rarely see themselves taken care of in this way, it is more than a haircut.
A trip to the cinema. Popcorn, a big screen, and the simple experience of watching a film in a theatre that many of these children had never done before.
A community-wide celebration of Yoga Day with sessions, breathing exercises, and mindfulness activities that reinforce what the Yoga Club builds all year.
Children planting trees and engaging with the environment around them. A lesson in stewardship, patience, and the idea that what you put into the world grows.
Child safety awareness sessions run in partnership with Young Indians. Practical, age-appropriate, and designed to give children the language to protect themselves.
Diwali, Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Christmas, Ramadan, Lohri. The shelter home observes every festival. Because every child deserves to celebrate.
An exposure visit to watch the UPL Final Match at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Children in a national-level sports venue, watching elite sport live for the first time.
Leadership and life skills training for the volunteer community that supports Badlaav’s programmes. When facilitators grow, the children they work with grow too.
